Why We Still Do Things the Old Fashioned Way (with a little help from technology)

David HoodBy David Hood, Induron CEO

I have said before that Induron has old buildings. We do. And in thinking about the history of this company, I’m reminded of something else we have that’s old – our “batch books,” which is a log of production batches.

We actually still have our very first batch book. The original batch (batch No. 1) of paint we made was for 10 gallons of TT-P-86 Red and was recorded in pencil by my dad, Induron founder William E. Hood. We still keep batch books today, but now they are in electronic form. Continue reading Why We Still Do Things the Old Fashioned Way (with a little help from technology)

Stark Bro’s Nursery Bears Good Fruit and Great Paint

Stark Bros (2)By Linc York, Induron Sales Rep

Next year, Stark Bro’s Nursery & Orchards will celebrate their 200th year in business. To offer some perspective, they began business a decade before Thomas Jefferson died!

I was contacted by Charles Tamborski, the owner of Lanco Contracting, who was in discussion with Stark Bro’s to repair and paint their plant storage warehouse. The warehouse’s environment is continuously wet and had been the ideal spot for corrosion. The corrosion was severe enough that they had to replace about 100 of the steel purlins. Story of this Photo: Frogmen and Indurall at the State Fair

This photo is one of the more interesting ones in our archives. It shows a publicity stunt that took place at the Alabama State Fair in ca.1955. Before scuba diving was popular as a hobby, the Magic City Frogmen set a record for surviving underwater. There was not much scuba gear around at that time, so it got a lot of attention! The Best Things About Independence Day

iStock_000009509714_SmallAt Induron, we are very proud to be an American company. We’ve been here a long time, and we plan to continue to be here for a lot longer. We have sales representatives who are spread out all over this great country, and we all love the Fourth of July holiday and celebrate it in different ways wherever we are.

“The 4th of July commemorates the signing of the documents which define us. We read the entire Declaration every year on the fourth to remind us of the great ideas on which our country was founded.” David Hood, Induron CEO Continue reading The Best Things About Independence Day

No More Clean Water?

clean waterBy Davies Hood, Induron President

Usually, unless a water main breaks or a street caves in, most people forget about or ignore the invisible infrastructure that is slowly crumbling under our own feet. But we don’t think twice when we flush the toilet or fill a glass of water from the kitchen sink because clean, safe water has been available in the U.S. for so long. Why We Love the ACE AWWA Convention

By Tex Enoch, Induron Sales Rep

The first of many annual ACE American Water Works Association (AWWA) Conventions occurred for me over 30 years ago. It was held in San Francisco.  Although I worked at the time for a small, very regional, paint manufacturing company, Pennsbury Coatings, it was decided that I should participate in that meeting.

This decision was made because our largest customer, The Philadelphia Suburban Water Company, was sending a large group of conventioneers, and I was tasked to make sure they remembered our special relationship. Continue reading Why We Love the ACE AWWA Convention

Help Induron Coatings Celebrate Infrastructure Week!

By Davies Hood, Induron President

The buzz might not be as loud as that surrounding the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots and their whole “Deflate-Gate” fiasco. Heck, it’s not as emotionally charged as some of the other recent headlines that involve the enactment of a city wide curfew, but our nation’s infrastructure is it something that we as a nation need to pay close attention too. Infrastructure Week is this week, and it’s the perfect time to learn more about the current state of things. Continue reading Help Induron Coatings Celebrate Infrastructure Week!

An Epoxy Coating that Works TOO Well

water treatment plantPermaSafe 100 is one of Induron’s most popular, toughest products for protecting waste water treatment plants. In fact, it has actually proved to be almost too tough for comfort!

We once worked with a contractor who applied it on a water treatment plant, and while it was approved and looked good, the owners decided that it needed to be removed because it was a different product than was originally specified. They wanted to use a different generic polyurea, rather than an epoxy, so the PermaSafe 100 had to be removed. However, neither the owners of the water treatment plant nor the painter understood just how well PermaSafe 100 bonds to concrete and steel. Continue reading An Epoxy Coating that Works TOO Well
