All You Need to Know About Stripe Coatings

A stripe coat is defined as a coat of paint applied only to edges or welds on steel structures before or after a full coat is applied. The stripe coat is intended to give those areas sufficient film build to resist corrosion. Stripe coats also provide extra corrosion protection measures on edges, outside corners, crevices, bolt heads, fasteners, welds and other irregular surfaces. Indurlux 9400: An Epoxy PolySiloxane Coating

Polysiloxane coatings were first patented in the 1980s and became commercially available in the 1990s. Since then, their use has been expanded into storage tanks, offshore and bridges with overall favorable results. After evaluating the advancements and improvements in this technology, Induron announced the launch of Indurlux 9400, a high-solids, two-component epoxy siloxane with the corrosion-protective properties of an epoxy and the color and gloss retention of a polyurethane.
