Notes from the Field: NSF 600

Lately, in both the industrial coatings and water infrastructure industries, there has been much buzz about the upcoming changes to potable water lining standards. The standard we are all intimately familiar with, ANSI/NSF 61, is being replaced by ANSI/NSF 600. What Do you Get When High Performance Coatings and Quality Craftsmanship Meet to Take on Settling Basins?

In 2018, Induron teamed with Texarkana Water Utilities (TWU) to develop specifications for their uncoated, aging settling basins. The basins were in critical need of refurbishment. After several inspections to assess the condition of the basins, and working within the regulations unique to the region, specifications were written for the rehabilitation of the structures.

PotaWater and wastewater treatment plants offer the greatest variety of coating needs of all industrial facilities. These facilities contain an enormous variety of service environments from potable water immersion, exterior weathering service (both the chemically stressed and “regular” varieties), secondary containment, solid chemical exposure, floors, pipe interiors, pipe exteriors, bar screens, screw pumps, headworks, chlorine chambers, aeration basins…and the list goes on and on.
