Stepping up to the Plate with Novasafe Ceramic Novalac Epoxy
In October 2024, we collaborated with TWM, Inc. and Bazan Painting Company on a complex project at a chemical processing facility in St. Louis, Missouri. The existing structures, interwoven with operational equipment, required a coating solution capable of withstanding exposure to aggressive chemicals. Induron’s Novasafe Ceramic Novolac Epoxy was selected for its exceptional chemical resistance in both acidic and caustic environments. This thick-film, ceramic-filled novolac epoxy is formulated to endure the most extreme conditions encountered in treatment plants on concrete and carbon steel surfaces.
Despite challenges such as tight schedules and the necessity to work around active plant operations, the project was completed successfully. The application of Novasafe, followed by two coats of PermaClean II Epoxy, provided robust protection for the facility’s structural materials. The teamwork and dedication demonstrated by all parties involved ensured the project’s success, highlighting Novasafe’s effectiveness in demanding industrial environments.
VCSFA Wallops Island Deluge Tank Coating
A newly constructed 283-foot deluge tank at the Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority’s Wallops Island Flight Facility in Virginia required a protective coating to protect the tank from the harsh environmental conditions and ensure its longevity and functionality.
Collaborating with Pittsburg Tank & Tower and Corrosion Control Corporation, the project involved ground-level painting to ensure quality and protect nearby launch facilities. The interior received two coats of Ruff-Stuff 2100 Coal Tar Ceramic Epoxy Tank Lining for durability against high flow rates, while the exterior was treated with CeramaPrime Epoxy Primer, Indurethane 6700, and Perma-Gloss Fluorourethane to withstand the corrosive coastal environment. Despite challenges like high winds delaying erection, the tank was successfully installed on April 22, 2024. The project exemplified effective collaboration and the application of specialized coatings in demanding conditions.
Breathing New Life into the Hoover Met
We proudly partnered with Industrial Coatings Group to renovate the 105,000-square-foot roof of the Hoover Met baseball stadium in Hoover, Alabama. The project aimed to rejuvenate the existing coating, which had reached the end of its lifecycle, ahead of the SEC baseball tournament scheduled for mid-May.
The renovation process began with SPCSP 14 waterjet cleaning to prepare the surface. A primer coat of E-Bond, a penetrating 100% solids epoxy, was applied to address areas of chalking and delamination. Subsequently, two coats of Perma-Gloss Fluorourethane in a custom “Hoover Blue” color were applied, offering superior color and gloss retention to ensure the roof’s vibrancy for years to come. Our ability to deliver Perma-Gloss within one day facilitated the project’s timely completion before the tournament. The successful renovation not only enhanced the stadium’s appearance but also demonstrated Induron’s commitment to quality and innovation in protective coatings!
Marble Hill Tank Recoating in Phillipsburg, NJ
Induron products were employed in the recoating of the Marble Hill Tank, a 2-million-gallon ground storage tank owned by Aqua New Jersey in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. The existing coating had reached the end of its lifespan, necessitating a comprehensive recoating to maintain the tank’s integrity. The project team included Aqua New Jersey’s Adam Burger, US Tank Painting’s Tom Sulkowski, and engineer Andy Mumford from Mumford Bjorkman Associates. The exterior surface preparation utilized a Faster Blaster, eliminating the need for containment during blasting and streamlining the process.
For the interior surfaces, Induron’s Ceramaprime, PE-70, and PermaClean 100 were applied, with PermaClean 100—a 100% solids epoxy—applied at a thickness of 25-35 mils to ensure durability. The exterior received coatings of Ceramaprime, PE-70, and Indurethane 6600+, chosen for its superior durability in the tank’s wooded location. The project was completed successfully, with all parties expressing satisfaction with the outcome, ensuring the tank’s longevity and reliability!
