In 1995, the Edina Tank was built in Northeastern Missouri. The 200,000-gallon pedosphere stands 120 feet to the High-Water Line and can be seen for miles against the horizon.
Earlier this year (2024), Klingner & Associates was contracted by the city to develop the design and specifications for a complete, interior/exterior coatings rehab of one of the city’s tallest assets. Klingner & Associates Engineer, Matt Suhadolc and I had been working on updating some product specifications, and this project was one of the first two that were ready to go.
The coatings solution
The coatings systems specified for the Edina Tank employed some of Induron’s most advanced products, including Ceramaprime Ceramic Primer, TL-70 Ceramic NSF 61/600 certified, High-build Epoxy Lining, Permaclean II Epoxy, and one of my favorite exterior finishes, Permagloss Fluorurethane High Gloss Enamel. What a straightforward, performance packed “game plan” we had in motion for the client!
The project outcome
Now, let us add the “no nonsense” component to the success of the project with the work of the contractor, Viking Industrial Painting. The painting team mobilized on site on August 26 and filled the tank on September 2–even with 4 days off for weather and a local festival being held on the grounds next to the structure.
As you may notice in the pictures, even the lower cone during the exterior coatings process was covered to expedite the success of the project. Now that is the way to complete a project in that kind of timeframe!
Not all projects that we do are huge canvases of graphics, or endless in detail, but to this particular city, this tank represents a large investment of time, funds, and resources. When it matters most to the client, teaming up with partners that are focused on the quality of the “end result,” and the way in which that result is delivered, means everything.
