2022 Safety Excellence

By: Jeff White, Induron Executive Vice President and General Manager

2022 Safety AwardMarch Madness is upon us, which means one team will be cutting down the nets in Houston in the coming weeks. Hopefully, for the first time in school history, it will be the Alabama Crimson Tide. I believe basketball is one of the most unpredictable sports out there. Coaches and players alike, work to eliminate as much of the variance in performance by drawing up plays and working on execution to include offense, defense, shooting, and time management among many other things. A New Generation of Protective Coatings

Are today’s “new coatings” superior to the “old coatings” and systems used to protect water storage tanks?  The answer is yes for many of the coatings now on the market. The protective coatings industry is navigating complicated VOC compliance regulations. The adaptation and enforcement of these new, and more aggressive VOC regulations (link to part 1) has produced a new generation of protective coatings for potable water tanks. Why Do We Still Need More Worker Safety Reports?

Here in the United States, we pride ourselves on safety. At Induron, we have monthly meetings taught by outside professionals on a whole host of safety topics – fire safety, safe practices for lifting with overhead cranes, proper use of respirators, and many, many more. We launched, last year, a new incentive program for our staff to reinforce how seriously we take safety at Induron. We ended 2013 as one of our safest reporting years ever, thanks to our staff’s commitment to keeping their workplace safe.

You wouldn’t think that industries in this country were in any way lacking in safety practices and oversights, because of agencies like OSHA, educational and training policies like Induron’s, and the industry’s overall improving safety record.
