Elevating Excellence: Painting a 400,000-Gallon Pedesphere Tank for Aqua New Jersey
When a new 400,000-gallon elevated “Pedesphere” storage tank built by Caldwell Tanks for Aqua New Jersey needed interior and exterior coatings, the team turned to our newest product, Perma-Clean 100 SL, for the interior and Permagloss Fluorourethane for the exterior.
- Challenge: Although the tank steel had been shop-primed over two years earlier, the tank was only erected in 2025, delaying coating finalization.
- Solution: The project team applied Perma-Clean 100 SL at 25–35 mils DFT to the interior, achieving consistent coverage, while the exterior was finished with Perma-Gloss topcoat, including a complex, locally designed logo using over 20 colors.
- Result: The result is both functional and beautiful — a water tank built for decades of service, honoring local identity and community pride.

Delivering Speed and Performance: A 2.0 Million–Gallon Tank Repainted in a Single Day
Rehabilitating a massive 2.0 million–gallon standpipe isn’t a small feat, but thanks to Perma-Clean 100 SL, what seemed daunting became a one-day win
- Project scope: Interior lining of 25,500 square feet inside the standpipe, plus exterior and foundation coatings. Specs included PE70 and Indurathane 6600+ on the outside, with Perma-Clean 100 SL on the interior.
- Why it matters: Traditional “100% solids” epoxies often demand expensive plural-component pumps and extra labor. Perma-Clean 100 SL, on the other hand, works efficiently with a standard airless pump — no rentals, no special equipment.
- Result: The entire interior lining was completed in a single day, which saved time and money, while delivering long-lasting barrier protection. A perfect demonstration that high performance doesn’t have to mean high complexity!

Extending Life and Saving Cost: Overcoat Solution for a 200,000-Gallon Elevated Tank at Earnhart Hill
Sometimes the most sustainable solution isn’t replacing a tank — it’s renewing it. That’s the philosophy behind our project at Earnhart Hill Regional Water & Sewer District, where we protected and revitalized a 200,000-gallon elevated TB water tank.
- The challenge: The existing coating was nearing the end of its useful life, but the structure itself was sound — making it an ideal candidate for an overcoat rather than full replacement. Plus, the tank’s proximity to buildings and railroad tracks required stringent daily weather monitoring to avoid overspray, but the team’s disciplined approach ensured the job was done safely and correctly.
- The coating solution: The solution involved a pressure-wash overcoat with spot-priming by PE70, a full PE70 coat, and two topcoats of Indurathane 6600 on the exterior. The interior and foundation were also recoated with PE70.
- The result: The tank was restored with renewed protection and appearance, extending its service life significantly while maximizing cost-effectiveness and minimizing environmental impact.

High-Performance Protection Delivered On Time: 750,000-Gallon Spheroid Tank Rehab in Claryville, Kentucky
Our fourth standout of 2025 is the rehabilitation of a 750,000-gallon spheroid tank for Northern Kentucky Water. This project demanded not only coating excellence but also precise timing under a tight 45-day deadline.
- The challenge: The work couldn’t start until after Labor Day, but had to be completed within 45 days — including extensive weld repairs, full interior abrasive blasting, complete multi-coat repaint, partial dry-interior work, exterior pressure wash, and overcoat system application.
- The coatings solution: The interior (wet) was fully blasted per SSPC SP-10 spec and primed with MC67, then coated with PE-70 epoxy. Some dry-interior areas were spot-repaired and coated with PE-70. Exterior surfaces were pressure-washed, spot overcoated, then given a full PE-70 coat followed by two coats of Induron 6600 for UV-resistant, long-lasting protection.
- The outcome: Despite unpredictable fall weather and a packed scope of work, the project team delivered on schedule and to specification proving that with the right materials, planning, and teamwork, even demanding deadlines can be met without compromising quality or safety. This tank is now fully rehabilitated, coated, and a safety-upgraded — ready for many years of reliable service for the Northern Kentucky community.
