Induron Protective Coatings recently had the opportunity to attend the CEATI Conference in Palm Springs, CA, where we were excited to reconnect with industry professionals and share insights on the evolving field of transmission and distribution (T&D) asset protection. Over the years, Induron has been a dedicated exhibitor and participant at CEATI events, and we’ve grown alongside this valuable organization. This year’s conference was no exception, featuring engaging presentations on extending the useful life of T&D assets—an area where Induron is proud to play a key role, particularly through effective corrosion control programs.

CEATI provides a forum for industry specialist to present solutions to some of the largest energy providers in the US and Canada. This year, the conference focused on the importance of asset management programs, which include comprehensive coatings programs. These programs have proven effective in prolonging the life of T&D infrastructure. Through detailed analysis and proactive planning, electric utilities can significantly reduce the need to replace assets based on age or outdated schedules. Instead, they can focus on the actual condition and need of the assets, allowing them to make informed decisions that save money while maintaining a robust infrastructure.

At Induron, we specialize in helping utilities create and implement coatings programs as part of their asset management strategy. Our expertise in corrosion control plays a critical role in maintaining the longevity of transmission towers, which number in the millions and continue to grow each year. Despite this, many utilities struggle to keep up with the growing need for corrosion protection, and this is where our services can make a significant impact.

We were thrilled to see CEATI highlight the importance of basic corrosion protection in their sessions. Discussions focused on corrosion challenges and solutions across various types of coatings (including below-grade, above-grade, and transition zone coatings), cathodic protection (CP), and other technologies that help utilities get a clearer picture of their corrosion concerns. A key takeaway was the idea of planning for the “100-year lattice tower”—a concept that is achievable with good painting practices and selecting the right coatings. It’s a testament to the power of effective corrosion protection when properly implemented.

Induron also had the opportunity to network with engineers dedicated to protecting the grid from all sorts of threats, including corrosion! It’s always exciting to connect with professionals who share our passion for safeguarding critical infrastructure.

Throughout the conference, we were proud to see that many of CEATI’s member utilities who use coatings have specified Induron Coatings for their respective programs. Our long-standing relationships with these utilities are a testament to the quality and reliability of our products.

During the conference, we received numerous insightful questions from attendees. Here are some of the most common:

  • We are building an asset protection program or asset management program, but we do not have a coatings program included. Can you help us?
  • We are interested in assessing our transmission lines for corrosion. Can you help us with that?
  • We are interested in switching tower painting from operational expense money to capital expense money. Can you help us with that?

The answer to all of these three questions is “Yes!: Induron has helped many utilities build a painting program, assess the condition of structures and help with questions about capital expenditures.”

Induron is committed to helping utilities build comprehensive painting programs, assess the condition of their structures, and navigate questions about capital expenditures. We look forward to continuing our support of CEATI and its members in enhancing the resilience of T&D assets and ensuring their protection for decades to come.

We invite you to join us at the next CEATI T&D Conference, taking place on November 11-12, 2025, at the Hilton Orlando. We’d love to meet you there and discuss how Induron can help protect your infrastructure for the long haul!
