Induron Attends the Marcus Evans Transmission & Distribution Summit

By: Ben Rowland, Induron T&D Sales

Recently, Kendall Smith and I had the opportunity to attend the Marcus Evans Transmission & Distribution Summit held at The Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Summit provides a platform that helps America’s leading transmission and distribution executives evaluate and partner with relevant suppliers and solution providers.

At Induron, we like to consider ourselves both a supplier and a solution provider. Yes, we’re a manufacturer that supplies a material, but it’s often the expertise in and knowledge of the electrical T&D industry, where we provide a proven solution for effectively extending the life cycle of T&D assets.

During this 3-day summit, the attendees and participants share all their meals together while also attending industry specific presentations on topics, such as grid expansion, grid hardening and resiliency, grid maintenance and smart technologies. Beyond the group events, Marcus Evans sets up exclusive one-on-one meetings for participants to interact and share strategies and information with utility executives and decision makers. In these meetings, solution providers are able to delve into the details of the solution they’re providing, while utility executives are given an opportunity to gather unfiltered and intimate information on the latest-and-greatest solutions that they may not be directly responsible for on a day-in/day-out basis.

From these meetings, both executives and solution providers walk away with a much clearer understanding of the direction and goals of these very large power producers and what solutions are available to see them to fruition.

It wasn’t “all work and no play.” On the final night of the event, the collective group moved from The Roosevelt to the Toulouse Street Wharf. Greeted to the sounds of an authentic New Orleans jazz band, participants indulged in a dinner of Cajun staples served riverside, which was followed by casino games and a cigar bar.

All in all, Marcus Evans put on a fantastic event, which I’m certain will lead to positive outcomes for all in attendance. Until the next event…”laissez le bon temps rouler!”
