As a representative and resource for steel fabricators and suppliers, STI / SPFA is unparalleled in their support of the steel tank and fabrication industry. From shop-fabricated to field erected tanks, to pipelines, pressure vessels, and specialty fabricated products, the organization provides a safe forum for collaboration to promote steel products and steel asset protection.
This year, during an unseasonably cold February weekend in Clearwater Beach, STI/SPFA members and affiliates gathered at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa for the 2026 Annual Meeting. I had the pleasure of attending for the first time, alongside my Induron colleague, Joey Thomas. Despite the brisk coastal temperatures, the energy and enthusiasm throughout the event were anything but cold.
The three-day agenda was thoughtfully curated, offering a balance of highly technical sessions and broader discussions around marketing and business development for manufacturers. Each presentation reinforced the strength and adaptability of our industry, while the built-in networking opportunities allowed for meaningful conversations with peers, customers, and partners. Joey and I were especially grateful for the opportunity to host several dinners with Induron customers during the conference—time spent strengthening relationships and gaining valuable insights into the evolving needs of the market.
By the final day, the Florida sunshine made a welcome return just in time for one of the most anticipated traditions of the event. As Joey had promised, the farewell dinner was truly memorable. This year’s celebration took place at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, where attendees enjoyed a fantastic meal, a lively awards ceremony, and even exclusive access to some of the park’s world-class roller coasters. It was a unique and enjoyable way to close out the conference, and yet another reminder of the strong sense of community within this industry.
On a personal note, attending this meeting felt like something of a reunion. I joined the Induron team last year after spending two decades with a leading elevated water tank manufacturer. Seeing so many familiar faces—former clients, colleagues, and long-time friends—was incredibly meaningful. At the same time, I had the opportunity to build new relationships while representing Induron, further strengthening our connection to the industries we serve.
Events like the STI/SPFA Annual Meeting highlight not only the technical expertise within our field, but also the relationships and shared commitment that drive it forward. I’m grateful to be part of such a dedicated community and look forward to continuing these conversations in the years ahead.
