Joey ThomasI’ve spent the vast majority of my professional career on the contractor side of the water storage industry. Those years in the field taught me what truly works for asset owners—and what doesn’t.

When I began considering a move to the vendor side of the industry with Induron, I had to ask myself some tough questions. I needed to be confident that I would be representing products I could genuinely stand behind. Having successfully applied Induron products like Indurazinc MC 67, the battle-tested PE 70, Indurethane 6600, and Perma-Gloss Fluorourethane on my own projects as a contractor gave me that confidence. I had seen the performance firsthand, and that made the decision to join the team an easy one.

While I’ve been involved with countless water tower projects over the years, I wasn’t the one hanging 150 feet in the air or running a paint bay at a fabrication facility applying coatings day in and day out. Shortly after joining Induron, though, it was time to get my hands dirty so I could truly practice what I preached. My first experience was with Ceramaprime—and looking back, that felt especially fitting.

Frankly, this product is about as easy to apply as it gets. My first reaction was, jokingly, “I’m the best painter I’ve ever witnessed!” The material flowed smoothly through the pump and laid down beautifully on the substrate. It’s a simple yet robust polyamide epoxy that virtually anyone with a mixing drill and a paint pump can spray successfully. I’ll be the first to admit: if I can make it look good, anyone can.

As I began helping market Ceramaprime, I continued to emphasize its user-friendly application. Beyond ease of use, it’s a cost-effective, NSF-approved primer with excellent pot life, fast dry times, and a one-year recoat window—an especially valuable benefit for tank fabricators managing long-duration contracts. I introduced the product to fabricators and applicators I’ve worked with and trusted for years, asking for their honest feedback every time. Without exception, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. I’ve heard comments like, “That’s about as easy of a product to use as I’ve ever tried,” and even, “This is the best primer I’ve ever used—I want to use it on everything!”

Building on that success, we recently launched Ceramaprime CC, our cold-cure version designed to help contractors extend their application seasons in colder environments. We’re pleased that it maintains the same exceptional ease of use and generous pot life, with even faster dry times—which is saying something given how quickly the original version already cures. Contractors are seeing tremendous results in the field, and our fabrication partners are benefiting from improved throughput in their paint bays, which are often a bottleneck in the manufacturing process. Products like Ceramaprime and Ceramaprime CC reduce drying times and literally move steel through the plant faster. That’s real value—beyond what’s in the bucket. It’s exactly what I came here to represent.

Having products like these sets the tone for a simple yet remarkably effective coating system at Induron. We offer a wide range of topcoat options for both immersion and atmospheric service that I could talk about for days. But it’s clear to me that Ceramaprime and Ceramaprime CC have Induron truly primed for success.
