Enduring Supply Chain Challenges the Induron Way

By: Davies Hood, Induron President

Supply Chain ChallengesYou’ve probably heard that we’re living in “unprecedented times,” and that overused phrase does NOT exclude the paint manufacturing industry.

“This is going to be the most challenging time in our professional career.”

If I’ve said that phrase once in the last month, I’ve said it a hundred times. Because supply chain disruptions are causing significant and immediate price increases as well as challenging, uncharted lead times, those of us in the chemical industry are facing unprecedented challenges due to these unknown and/or undefined constraints.   Continue reading Enduring Supply Chain Challenges the Induron Way

By: Paul Powers, Induron Sales Representative

Recently, one of Induron’s larger water company customers used our products on a fire hydrant refurbishment project. Once the project was underway, I received a request that peaked my curiosity. The customer requested some very bright, dynamic colors in small quantities for a special part of the project. Fortunately, Indurlux 7600 can be made in just about any color, so we were able to provide the colors needed for the project.

Trust and TeamworkLegendary NFL Coach Vince Lombardi once said, “Mental toughness is essential to success.” Mental toughness, which refers to an individual’s ability to persevere through difficult circumstances and emerge without losing confidence, plays a significant role in achieving one’s goals in health, business and life.

For 69 years, Induron Protective Coatings’ customers have relied on and developed a high level of trust in Induron’s products and employees serving their industry.  As individuals, we strive to be the best at what we do on a daily basis.  We also realize that without the help, trust and support of others, we may fall short of our own personal goals. Corporate Values – Do they still have a place in today’s business environment?

By Tex Enoch, Induron Sales Rep

Induron's Values: Integrity, Respect, Reliability, InnovationMore than 40 years ago, I went to work for my father, who had just started Pennsbury Coatings Corporation, a small, family-owned coatings manufacturing company. Work was different then – no fax machines, no internet, no cell phones (some of us refer to them as “the good ol’ days”).  We did business on land lines and through the Post Office.  We also refined the art of the sales call.  Back then, a contract was simply a hand shake.

Five years ago, I found myself unemployed and began looking for a company that represented what my father’s company stood for:  a company that did what it promised, provided reliable and cutting-edge products, treated its customers like valued friends and offered its customers help if they needed it.

Induron Protective Coatings is a small, family-owned business that has allowed me to thrive in an environment that trusts its employees to work for the betterment of the company, as well as the industries that it serves.  We try very hard to keep all the promises we make and never make a promise we can’t keep.  It is a philosophy that serves us well.  Continue reading Corporate Values – Do they still have a place in today’s business environment?

Look for Innovation, and the World Will Beat a Path to Your Door

By Linc A. York, Induron Sales Rep, Troy, MO

How do you get the world to beat a path to your door? You know the answer – build a better mousetrap.

When I read this article from Coatings Tech magazine online, I thought immediately of this phrase. The “open innovation” approach discussed in this article is a new spin on what I’ve called “building a better mousetrap” in the coatings industry.  The authors of the piece emphasize how much competitive advantage is gained when we look outside our own company for the best ideas for new and innovative products and applications.

Before we knew what to call this concept, we were doing it here at Induron.  We draw on many sources of information – raw material suppliers, the needs and desires of our customers, new technology we’re seeing in the marketplace, our R&D staff, and of course our sales force – for new product ideas. Then we’re nimble enough to develop, test and launch a product in six to 12 months. Continue reading Look for Innovation, and the World Will Beat a Path to Your Door

Reliable Protection Through Innovative – and Greener! – Coatings

By John Anspach, Induron Technical Director

As local and national environmental regulations changed, particularly in the 1990s, Induron and companies like ours needed to document compliance with the new rules.  Regulatory agencies were (and are) taking a much firmer stance on emissions, and it was clear changes were going to have to be made.

The rewards for lowering emissions are substantial – demonstrating lowered emissions means eligibility for a Synthetic Minor permit, which shows the community in general and the industry in particular that your company is committed to environmentally-responsible manufacturing; thus making you much more attractive to customers looking for like-minded suppliers.

But it can’t be a “one and done” process. You’ll need to look at your emissions levels both now and in the future – since you’ll hopefully be producing at even greater levels in the future as your business expands. Continue reading Reliable Protection Through Innovative – and Greener! – Coatings
