Stark Bro’s Nursery Bears Good Fruit and Great Paint

Next year, Stark Bro’s Nursery & Orchards will celebrate their 200th year in business. To offer some perspective, they began business a decade before Thomas Jefferson died!

I was contacted by Charles Tamborski, the owner of Lanco Contracting, who was in discussion with Stark Bro’s to repair and paint their plant storage warehouse. The warehouse’s environment is continuously wet and had been the ideal spot for corrosion. The corrosion was severe enough that they had to replace about 100 of the steel purlins.

Stark Brothers 645 (3)To properly protect the new and existing purlins and structural members, we recommended the use of Induron’s E-Bond 100 Epoxy Penetrating Primer with a top coat of Perma-Clean II Epoxy. This recommendation was an easy one since this same system is commonly used in swimming pools.

While Lanco was on site, they were also asked to repaint the Stark Bro’s iconic barn that features a logo of a giant black bear symbolizing that Stark Bro’s trees “bear” good fruit. The before and after results are dramatic. The wooden structure was painted and protected with Induron’s Aquanaut Acrylic Enamel while the metal roof is now protected with Indurabrite Aluminum. Both products are somewhat unique in that they can be applied by brush and roller but are also a spray dry fall material.

Induron congratulates Stark Bro’s on this milestone anniversary! We are proud to have played a part in helping preserve their buildings for many years to come.
